My name be Lughmacgowan of the Clan Macgowan. Me clan has served to protect the verdant fields of Westfall from times long forgotten. Many of me clansmen and women have fought in the First War of Dark Portal against them horrible Orcs, and brought the fight to them through the Portal in the Second War. For their courage and valor, they returned home to Westfall as heroes and became elder chieftains in the Clan, and settled into quiet lives of tilling the soil. But lo, a terrible curse came back with my forefathers for all the Orc blood that be on their hands, a curse spoken only in whispers. It kills all the sons of the Clan right after they be born from the womb. A unspeakable malice more powerful then even me Clan’s most learned magi and holy priests cannot stop. It takes the breath of the man-child away, and leaves only the mother crying out in anguish at the loss of her child.
Me clan was once strong and proud now was humbled to the point of becoming nothing more than a footnote in a Dwarfen tome. The lords of Burning Fire and Rock came to take the rest of the men still left, too old and feeble to take up arms to defend the daughters of the Clan, so they made their last stand on the fields of their fathers and sent their beloved daughters away. Me Mum has me in her womb during the Great Leaving and made it to the far away lands of Ironforge, before she died by giving birth to me. From some reason me wee life was spared to be the last of me Clan.
Lucky for me a kindly Dwarf couple raised me as their very own, having lost their first-born to Burning Lords. They taught me the love of digging in the earth for the metal she yields and the creation of gizmos and guns but more importantly they taught me to love and serve the least of the Light’s creations. To this day, I take this lesson to heart, just like the cost that sometimes comes with sacrificing for a just cause.
Sometimes at night, I can feel the strength being sucked away from me, causing me to blank out and be out for hours, maybe days at a time. I sadly do not know the day or the time, my Clan curse will visit upon me, but I pray to the Light every day that I shall find a way to dispel this curse and to seek revenge on the evil that has plagued me Clan for many a generation. Until that one glorious day, I search, I struggle, and serve those of the Light and the Alliance. Long live the Honor Guard, whom is the only true Clan I have ever known! Shall I never fall thee, in this life or the next!
